Beaver Business...

Summer Camp

Beavers had a great camp this year at Everton.  We started by all going
into the forest together to build castles.  Each one was completely
different and gave us a change to earn our imagination badge.  We then
split up, some to go on a hike, some to do a blind trail and the rest had a game
of manhunt.  We swapped about before having dinner and then our campfire
and then settled in to watch 'Wreck it Ralph'.  The following morning
finishing touches were put to our castles and we had a chance to explore Everton
a bit more.  For some Beavers this was their first  visit to Everton
or their first chance to stay over at Everton and most importantly, earn some
badges! June 2013

Chinese New Year

Picture
Inverkip and Wemyss Bay Beavers celebrated Chinese New Year this week. They learned that people in Asia celebrate Chinese New Year differently that people in Britain.

The Beavers also used chopsticks to try and lift up sweets. It was really difficult! February 2013

Burns Night

Picture
Beavers enjoyed a Robert Burns themed colony meeting this week. The Beavers were treated to a small helping of Haggis, Neeps and Tatties, and were even allowed to have a little bit of IRN BRU!

The Beavers also designed their own tartan, if they didn't already have one. January 2013

Christmas Party

Picture
Eager Beavers from both Wemyss Bay and Inverkip were treated to a Christmas party at Fun World this December

The Beavers were able to enjoy themselves by climbing on the big ship, and had great fun doing the Gangnam Style dance. To top it all off, the Beavers got a special present of a giant tube of smarties!!! December 2012

Visit to Cornalees

Picture

This year all Beavers from Inverkip and Wemyss Bay got the chance to visit
Cornalees.  We divided into two groups - one went pond dipping to see what
creatures we could find in our local environment and also set pitfall traps to
look at an example of what insects live in this area.  The other group went
for a hike round the nature trail and we swapped over.  Everyone earned
another hike towards their staged hiking badges and we also got our adventure
badge.

New Term

This new term, Inverkip Beavers have moved to their new home at Inverkip Primary School. We wish to thank Inverkip Church for providing a home to our younger section for many, many years and we will continue to affiliate ourselves with the church. We really appreciate the church's blessing in our new home, and hope our move will help us to continue making links to the school community and the new Curriculum for Excellence. January 2013

Anti Bullying Week

Picture
Beavers from the 85th placed their own hands of Friendship on the "tree of life" to pledge their support for anti-bullying week.

National Anti-Bullying Week 2012 ran between the 19 and 23 November and this year’s theme was: “We're better without bullying”. November 2012
